Depart Athens for a day trip to explore the UNESCO-listed Archaeological Site of Delphi and learn how the city was considered the “Center of the World” in ancient Greece and today one of Greece’s best-known archaeological sites. On the way you will see the plain of Boeotia, a rural center and you will also pass by the city of Thebes, the birthplace of King Oedipus. Immerse yourself in the myths and monuments of classical Greece on this full-day Delphi tour from Athens. Along the way, you will be informed by your professional licensed tour guide about the ancient Greeks and their life in Delphi. Before reaching Delphi there will be a short stop outside the town of Levadea. Upon arrival in Delphi the first tour will be to the archaeological site of Delphi – UNESCO World Heritage Site one of the most important excavations in Europe. Walk through the evocative ruins with your tour guide, see famous monuments such as the monument of the Argive Kings, the Athenian treasury, the Athenian Stoa, the Polygonal Wall, the Plataea monument and the Temple of Apollo famous for its oracle.

The tour continues to the Delphi museum, its impressive exhibits include the frieze of the Sifnian Treasury, the Naxian Sphinx, the Statue of Antinous, the metopes of the Athenian treasury, the famous bronze Heniochus, originally created to commemorate a victory against in 476 BC Pythian Games and many other items. After lunch, you will visit the Sanctuary of Athena Pronaia, the most photographed spot in Delphi. Return to Athens via the picturesque mountain village of Arachova, built on the southern slopes of Mount Parnassos, known for its attractive handmade carpets, blankets, as well as its wine and cheese (short photo stop).

In the afternoon we will make our way back to Athens with an expected arrival around 19:00 – 19:30
